SlothBox
Support
For app questions or a technical problem, email sloth-box@benriordan.com.
Price and availability
At launch, SlothBox is free and offered for iPhone in the U.S. App Store.
Include your app version, device model, iOS version, and the steps that led to the problem. Please leave out private letter text and invitation links unless a specific support exchange requires them and you choose to share them. SlothBox's in-app Contact Support button opens your mail app and does not send a message or include letter text automatically.
When will a letter arrive?
After you place a letter in the mailbox, pickup is scheduled 2–5 hours later. You can edit it or return it to drafts until pickup. Once picked up, the letter is fixed and is scheduled to arrive 2–5 calendar days later. iCloud synchronization and background notifications can be delayed. Open the app to reconcile its current state.
There are no read or delivery receipts. You can place one letter per correspondent in 24 hours, subject to a maximum of three pickups with that correspondent in any rolling seven days. Timing is inspired by mail; SlothBox is not a postal delivery service.
iCloud and drafts
SlothBox uses the Apple Account active on your device. Check the iCloud status in Settings. When the app offers Try Again, use it to retry a temporary synchronization problem. Unplaced drafts are stored only on the device where you wrote them and do not appear automatically on another device.
Choosing which mail you receive
- Ignore Mail files a person's current and future unarchived arrivals in a quiet pile with no alert or badge.
- Restore Mail returns that person's unarchived arrivals to the ordinary mailbox.
- Close Mail Route silently stops future mail from appearing and refuses new invitations from the same identity. Earlier arrivals remain in Preserved Letters. Closure is permanent in the current app.
Reporting a letter
Choose Report Letter for an incoming letter that has arrived and been opened. Select a reason and explicitly agree to prepare the selected letter and its context for sharing. Review the full report text, then choose Email Report or Share. Email Report puts the readable text in a message body addressed to sloth-box@benriordan.com. You decide whether to send it. Ben is responsible for handling reports received at this address.
Ben checks received reports daily. This is human review of received email, not automated monitoring or a guarantee of a response within 24 hours.
A sent or queued result from Mail is not confirmation that support received or reviewed the report. Saving a draft does not send it. If you cancel, the report form remains available and the report is unsent. If sending fails, you can retry or share the reviewed text. If Mail is unavailable, Share lets you send the same plaintext to another app; the support address remains visible and can be copied. Completing a share does not prove the text was emailed or received. Do not assume opening or dismissing a mail draft submitted the report.
Reporting does not close a mail route. Use Ignore Mail or Close Mail Route if you also want to change which mail appears. Reports are handled by email, without automated monitoring of routine letters. Do not rely on SlothBox or its support address for urgent help.
Ben can review received report emails and explain recipient controls. Report handling does not include global account bans or deletion of other people's iCloud letters. Use Close Mail Route to stop future mail from appearing and refuse new invitations from the same identity; it does not erase the sender's underlying letters.
The support/report inbox is hosted by Proton Mail and accessible only to Ben as the authorized inbox user. He deletes resolved emails and any downloaded copies 30 days after resolution, except when needed for ongoing cases or legal requirements. Provider backups follow Proton Mail's retention practices. See the privacy policy for details.
Time-sensitive communication
Routine letters are not monitored by SlothBox and may take days to arrive. Use another way to communicate anything urgent or involving immediate safety. The app is not therapy, crisis monitoring, or a medical device.
